New Projects I am working on....

Okay... so here are three projects I am working on. Steampunk-ish Bracelets that I L-O-V-E! The Octopus bracelet is my FAVe! I am sending that one to my daughter in California... but I will make more.
Next is the upcycled vintage books... I made them into little journals, filled with blank cardstock inside. Awesome place to jot down ideas or do some sketches or whatever...
The last one is a super cute chipboard book that I made with awesome scrapbook papers from Crate Paper and Studio Calico... I just showed you the front cover. When I am done I will post the inside pages.

I was informed a few months ago that my digital collage of "Hibou Blanc"(white owl) is going to be published in my favorite magazine, Somerset Digital Studio... OMG!! I can't believe it!... The Fall issue will hit the stores on Sept. 1st... so check it out. It will be featured in the Gallery section of the magazine. I had so much fun making the digital collage and I am sooo excited that it will be appearing in THIS magazine for all to see and share with. I would like to thank a friend of mine, Wendy Landis of Leaky Shed Studios(www.leakyshedstudio.com). She was the one who bought me a copy of my first Somerset Digital Studio magazine, I didn't even know they existed... and also to thank my sister, Tricia Samsal of Vintage Bliss(www.vintagebliss.typepad.com) for inspiring and encouraging me to submit my artwork to Somerset in the first place. Her handmade designs and creativity has appeared in a couple of their magazines. I can't wait to get my copy!

Here are some blank altered art journals that I have made from vintage books that I have found along the way in my travels. I am making these for the upcoming Art Unraveled show in August, but I will have them for sale in my Etsy shop as well...One has sold already with two custom orders for the Rocket to Luna and The Bleak House by Charles Dickens. They are filled with blank and lined papers, and lots of tidbits of ephemera, envelopes and bags to hold misc. goodies.

It is a pre-made altered art journal, blank inside just waiting for your notes, pictures, scraps, embellishments etc. I gutted the inside of the book and used papers, ephemera, scrapbook papers, pages from old travel guides, recipie flip books, envelopes, tiny paper bags, photo sleeves, vintage flash cards, etc... This is my latest digital scrapbooking layout featuring My Mind's Eye newest line, Haunted. I L O V E this paper... it is wicked awesome... I have added some elements/embellishments from my own personal collection and creations as well... I like digital scrapping so much... you can really get a lot done and spend a whole lot less $.
My daughter, Amaya is in the picture in her Queen of the Court Vampire costume... we had a very fun Halloween last year and I knew that this paper line would be perfect for documenting these moments...

Girls Day Out

Just sharing some pics of my day out with my sister, Tricia and my daughter, Amaya. We went to some sweet shops in Mesa and Phoenix. We had fun trying on hats and clothes at Hollywood Regency in Phoenix and before that we went to Melrose Vintage to check out their new goodies they have for sale. Here are some pics of the fun!

Just posting some pictures from my Easter weekend... it was my Grandma Eleanor's birthday as well... so we celebrated both. We had great food ~ thanks to my Mom! and the kids had an egg hunt... I think my nephew, Michael found the most eggs but my daughter, Amaya found the most money in the eggs :D hehe
I have been busy making custom blog and etsy banners for a new customer ... Heidi at Hollywood Regency. She has one of the coolest shops ~ full of vintage and retro goodies... clothes, furniture, home decor, jewelry, etc. Its really fun! I will post the pics of the banners in my "custom work" section of my blog...
Well ~ have fun looking and on my next post I will have pictures of my new truck! Wohoo!

OMGosh! I just opened my Vintage Heart Swap goodies from wonderful Rochelle in Chilliwack, BC! You packed that box to the brim lady!!! I loved everything inside... You have outdone yourself... there are sooo many goodies inside... the stocking, the socks, the thermos, the vintage ephemera, cookie cutters, sprinkles, heart clips, etc...etc... the CHOCOLATE! Thank you VERY much... This was so fun! I am so glad I decided to take part in this swap... and I made a new friend at the same time... Thanks to Dolly for being a wonderful host too... check out my pics... hopefully Rochelle gets her package from me soon! XOXOXOX

Goodies I found at the Merchant Square Flea Market

Just sharing some goodies I found at the flea market this past weekend at Merchant Square in Chandler, AZ. I found some old books I can use for my collage sheets and altered art projects. Then I found some pretty sweet frames that I can't wait to dress up... I found the one with the mirror at a local thrift store... always a bargain there... my mom got me hooked on that place. This weekend I will probably go to the 14th Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire. Its a free event all weekend for the chocoholics of AZ. I will have pics to post... it will be my first time there. Can't wait... O! and there are LOTS of antique shops to rummage in. HeHe. :D

I am just sharing my first vintage altered bottle that I made. My mom has SO MANY supplies in her craft room that I just went shopping in there and came out with this... I hope she likes it... I had fun making it... it is displayed in my living room next to my daughter's picture... I love it. I want to make more now! Thanks Mom for giving me your creative genius-ness....

I went to my fave antique store today to look for goodies for the "Vintage Heart Swap" that I am doing along with 100 other ladies...! This is my first swap of goodies,,, it was fun to look for vintage heart goodness at the store I can spend hours in... basically get lost in there. I was sucessful.. but I cant show my purchases just yet.. not until the swap is over... but here is a peek of one of the vendors antiques for sale... their vignettes are always so pretty! love em! Snow!

My DDs Monique and Amaya and I in Flagstaff, AZ. We went sledding and had some fierce snowball fights with my seven year old, Amaya. She can launch those snowballs so hard, they sting when they hit you.. and her accuracy is right on too. I felt bad for the guys... they got hit in the unmentionables a few time!! LOL :D It was great! As you can see it was a beautiful day to hit the slopes. We had a blast!
